Location

Map to HighbankFrom Melbourne

Travel out of Melbourne on the Calder Freeway, heading for Bendigo, past Gisborne, Sunbury and Woodend and on towards Kyneton. There are three exits off the freeway into Kyneton. I suggest you take the first, as you will see the town before arriving at Highbank. This first exit takes you down into the town, turn right at the lights, past the Town Hall on the left and soon after turn left into historic Piper Street. Follow Piper Street down over the Campaspe River bridge, then on a little to a left turn near the Kyneton Mineral Water bottling plant and a service station. This road is sign-posted to Lauriston and Drummond. Cross over the railway line and soon after turn left into Sebastopol Road. Highbank is on the corner of Donnelly Road and Sebastopol Road, surrounded by Hawthorn hedges. Please park on the grass verge.

From Bendigo

Take the first exit to Kyneton off the Calder Freeway, travel on the exit road until you reach a right turn sign-posted to Lauriston and Drummond. The Kyneton Mineral Water bottling plant and a service station are on this corner. Cross over the railway line and soon after turn left into Sebastopol Road. Highbank is on the corner of Donnelly Road and Sebastopol Road, surrounded by Hawthorn hedges. Please park on the grass verge.

From Geelong, Ballarat and Daylesford

From Geelong, travel to Ballarat, then exit towards Daylesford and Creswick. From Daylesford leave the town heading for Castlemaine and Trentham. At the intersection where you'll find the Farmer's Arms Hotel, turn left towards Castlemaine, and soon after turn right heading for Malmsbury. Through Coomoora, Glen Lyon, Denver then turn right at the Drummond Primary School - this is sign-posted to Lauriston and Kyneton. Travel through the small village of Lauriston heading for Kyneton, about 8ks on you will turn right into Sebastopol Road. Highbank is on the corner of Donnelly Road and Sebastopol Road, surrounded by Hawthorn hedges. Please park on the grass verge.

Highbank is on the corner of Donnelly Road and Sebastopol Road, surrounded by Hawthorn hedges. Please park on the grass verge.

Accomodation in the Daylesford/Macedon area

There are many fine alternatives for accommodation in this well known tourist area. Kyneton is just under an hour's drive from Melbourne, up the Calder Freeway, and 20 minutes from Daylesford. The bluestone stables and blacksmiths here at Highbank will become a self-contained B&B in December, 2009. Please contact us on 03 5422 2308 to enquire about bookings. We also suggest St. Agnes homestead, 03 5422 2639, and 'Tilwinda' 03 5422 2772. And on Daylesford Road at nearby Glenlyon, Armley Park, 03 5348 7979.

There is much to do and see in the beautiful Central Highlands over a weekend. You'll find a wide selection of restaurants, great coffee shops and cafes, numerous health and spa treatments, fabulous wineries and their cellar doors, tempting art galleries and plenty of shops to browse through. We can also help you plan your weekend away to include a class here at Highbank.
